Missiles fall, Tehran burns, war escalates.

How many missiles does Iran have?

As Operation Rising Lion intensifies, Israel estimates Iran retains 2,000 ballistic missiles from its original arsenal. With over 170 strategic targets hit and Tehran reeling from sustained IDF strikes, the threat of further escalation looms amid Iran's remaining missile reserves and disrupted command structure.

Israeli security officials estimate that Iran has approximately 2,000 ballistic missiles remaining from an initial arsenal of 3,000 at the onset of the current conflict, with about one-third either destroyed or launched, according to a report by Israel Hayom today (Sunday). The assessment comes as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue their relentless Operation Rising Lion, targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure across the country, including Tehran.

Throughout Saturday night, around 50 IDF fighter jets conducted a major strike wave over Tehran, hitting over 80 targets, including the Iranian Ministry of Defense headquarters, the Sepand nuclear project facility, and sites concealing Iran’s nuclear archive, the IDF spokesperson announced. The strikes, guided by the Intelligence Directorate, are part of a broader campaign that has targeted over 170 sites and 720 military infrastructures in less than three days. “The IDF is intensifying efforts to neutralize the Iranian nuclear threat, striking at its core and degrading critical weapons production capabilities,” the spokesperson stated.

The Israeli offensive, supported by a covert Mossad operation smuggling explosive-laden drones to disable Iranian air defenses, has significantly hampered Iran’s ability to execute large-scale missile attacks, per the Israel Hayom report. The elimination of senior Iranian commanders, including IRGC Commander Hossein Salami and Armed Forces Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, alongside nine nuclear scientists, has further disrupted Iran’s military operations. However, Iran’s remaining missile stockpile, including advanced Kheibar missiles yet to be deployed, poses a continued threat, according to posts on X and Ynetnews analyses.

Iran’s retaliatory attacks, involving over 300 ballistic missiles, have killed 11 Israelis, including seven in Bat Yam and four in Tamra, and injured 385, with seven in serious condition, per the Ministry of Health. The strikes have caused widespread disruption, leaving 742 citizens homeless, prompting the Welfare Ministry to deploy social workers to hotels and family centers.

As Israel maintains aerial dominance over Tehran, the nation braces for potential Iranian escalation. The IDF is focused on degrading Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities in a high stakes of a conflict that shows no signs of abating.
