Light rail service across several major sections of Jerusalem has been suspended on Monday afternoon following demonstrations on the tracks, Israel Police and transit officials announced.
Under police directives, light rail operations have been halted entirely between the Givat HaTachmoshet (Ammunition Hill) and Denya Square stations.
The light rail will temporarily operate via a split, partial service format on the remaining sections of the line:
To accommodate stranded passengers, regular public bus lines are available along the disrupted routes:
Alternative Bus Routes:
Lines 1, 66, and 77 to the City Center (via HaNevi'im / Heil HaHandasa streets).
Line 77 to Davidka Square, Line 68 to the Central Bus Station.
Lines 27 / 27A to Yefe Nof and Hadassah.
Lines 33 and 35 to Yefe Nof and Mount Herzl.
Lines 91 and 505 to Yefe Nof.
Line 16 to Mount Herzl.
Line 27 to HeChalutz and Hadassah Ein Kerem stations.
Line 39 to Kiryat Moshe, Yefe Nof, and Mount Herzl stations.
Line 50 to Kiryat Moshe and Yefe Nof stations.
Lines 27 and 39 to the Herzl axis and the Central Bus Station.
Once the tracks are cleared, the light rail will return to regular operations along the entire L1 Line (Hadassah Ein Kerem – Neve Yaakov).
Commuters are advised to expect delays and utilize alternative transportation through the city center until police clear the tracks and declare the lines safe for standard rail operations.
