A Likud party source has sharply criticized the double-envelope voting procedure used in the party's recent primary election, claiming that individuals not listed in the official voter registry were granted special permission to cast ballots at Binyenei Ha'uma, Jerusalem's convention center.
"This is a bizarre incident, a kind of scheme," the source said. According to the claim, "people who weren't in the voter registry were given special permission to vote at Binyenei Ha'uma, based on an affidavit submitted in the name of Yonatan Tal, who claims these aren't even his people."
On election day, approximately 100 party members received authorization to vote using double envelopes. The stated reason was a technical glitch that prevented them from appearing in the system as having the required membership period to participate in the primary. In practice, around 50 of those members arrived at Binyenei Ha'uma and exercised their voting rights. According to a report by Avraham Freund on the Behadrei Haredim website, these votes have not yet been added to the official results.
