A video allegedly released by a Mossad-affiliated account on X has ignited controversy in Iran, showing women at the wedding of Ali Shamkhani’s daughter without hijabs, in direct violation of the Islamic Republic’s strict dress codes. Shamkhani, a senior Revolutionary Guards official and close associate of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was previously targeted in an Israeli operation.
The footage shows women in revealing attire, drawing immediate attention and ridicule online. The post accompanying the clip sarcastically read, “Congratulations to Shamkhani’s daughter! Belated, but this isn’t something you see every day.”
The Mossad account added: “We’re happy the Islamic hijab is maintained in a new style (wink), but don’t worry, Mr. Shamkhani still respects religious law, and so should you! Stay tuned for more exclusive photos…”
The video appears to have been recorded before recent hostilities but was only published now, triggering a wave of embarrassment and public discussion in Iran. Iranian-born analyst Beni Sabti commented on X: “If Mossad says to wait for the next images, does it mean releasing this one was their work?… You destroyed Shamkhani without firing a missile.”
Shamkhani himself recently spoke about surviving an Israeli attack on his home, which left him trapped under rubble for three hours with internal injuries. He reportedly used a respiratory training device and a walking cane during recovery. Shamkhani said he initially thought the destruction was caused by an earthquake, realizing only later it was an attack. “I prayed my morning prayers under the rubble,” he said.
Shamkhani added cryptically, “The Zionists know why they tried to eliminate me, and I know too. I cannot say the reason, but I turned their lives into hell.”
The release of the video underscores growing tensions and sensitivities within Iran, highlighting how leaks of private events can escalate into major public embarrassment for high-ranking officials.
