Police Officer Set Alight After Responding to Suicide Threat

Three police officers were injured in an unusual arson incident at a gas station in the Krayot area on Sunday evening, after being called to assist a person threatening suicide.
According to police reports, officers from the Zevulun station rushed to the scene following reports of a distressed individual at risk of self-harm. When the officers arrived and attempted to help, the suspect threw flammable material at them.
One officer was set on fire, and two additional officers who rushed to assist him were also injured in the attack.
"During the response to the incident, the suspect threw flammable material at the officers, managed to set one officer on fire, and two other officers who tried to help him were also injured," police spokesperson stated.
After a brief foot chase, police arrested a 33-year-old resident of Kiryat Motzkin in connection with the arson attack.
According to Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency services, all three officers were evacuated to Rambam Medical Center for treatment. One officer is in moderate condition, while the other two sustained light injuries.
Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident and will seek to extend the suspect's detention in court based on the needs of the investigation.
The incident adds to a series of complex cases in which police officers have been injured while carrying out their duties in recent months.
