Israeli military intelligence has confirmed the successful liquidation of Muhammad Raleb Balut, the commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, in a precise air strike in Beirut's Dahiya district. The operation, which relied on pinpoint intelligence, is being hailed as a significant achievement that directly impacts the terror group's operational and moral strength. Alongside Balut, the unit’s senior intelligence officer was also eliminated, effectively decapitating the leadership of Hezbollah’s most dangerous offensive wing.

Balut was identified as a central figure in the Iranian-led effort to rebuild Hezbollah's "Galilee invasion" capabilities, which were designed to mirror the atrocities of the October 7 massacre. He had been directing dozens of terror plots against IDF forces in southern Lebanon, including anti-tank missile fire and the deployment of explosive charges. Most recently, Balut was responsible for the order to launch suicide drones and 1,000 elite fighters toward the border despite the theoretical ceasefire.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the successful operation, stating that Balut was the senior terrorist who led the master plan for the occupation of the north. "He thought he could continue to direct attacks from his hidden headquarters in Beirut, believing he had immunity," Netanyahu remarked. The Prime Minister emphasized that the "long arm of Israel" would reach anyone who threatens the state, noting that over 200 Hezbollah terrorists have been eliminated in the past month alone.

The IDF remains in a state of high alert, as military officials prepare for various retaliatory scenarios from the Shiite organization. Potential responses include attempts to breach the operational envelope of Israeli forces in southern Lebanon using rocket barrages and drone swarms. A security source warned that if Hezbollah chooses to escalate, the IDF's response will be "severe," with operational plans already finalized to target the heart of Beirut if necessary.

As a precaution, several local authorities in northern Israel have canceled public events and gatherings in communities near the border. Despite these local cancellations, the Home Front Command has maintained its general defensive policy without major changes for the time being. The military is encouraging the public to remain vigilant while they continue to monitor the border for any signs of a ground or aerial response to the loss of the Radwan elite.

This assassination is seen as a message not only to Hezbollah but also to its patrons in Tehran. By removing a commander who was deeply integrated into the Iranian strategic vision, Israel has hampered the "unity of arenas" strategy. The IDF vows to continue its operations against any attempt by the Radwan Force to rehabilitate its infrastructure or rebuild its specialized combat units in the wake of this devastating leadership loss.
