Following Minister Benny Gantz's announcement this evening (Sunday) that his party was leaving the government led Shas party leader Aryeh Deri to ask him on X to reconsider.
In his post, Deri said: "I am greatly pained by Benny Gantz's decision to leave the government. Israel is still in a time of emergency, the threats are many, the IDF soldiers are fighting shoulder to shoulder, and internal unity is critical for the continuation of the war."
Addressing the realities of the unity government, he said "For eight months of war, we knew how to put our disputes aside. All the decisions in the war cabinet were reached unanimously. We face fateful missions. This is not the time for political clashes, or an election campaign which will divide the nation."
He ended with a personal appeal: "Benny Gantz, I call on you to reconsider your position. Israel before everything."
