Netanyahu: This is why we need a ceasefire in the north

As the war intensifies in the north, with Hezbollah firing larger rocket salvos and the IDF launches heavier air strikes in Lebanon, the government is debating moving towards a ceasefire.

At a closed meeting of the government, Prime Minister Netanyahu explained that Israel needs a ceasefire in the north - first and foremost to prevent sitting President Joe Biden from doing last-minute anti-Israel moves like Obama did when Trump won the first time, according to Channel 14 News.

Netanyahu also explained that it was important to detach the war with Hezbollah from the war with Hamas. What mattered was allowing reservists a rest, restocking on weapons, and Israel deciding what counted as a "violation" of a ceasefire.

Netanyahu said that he believes removing Hezbollah's support for the war in Gaza will leave Hamas even more isolated and under pressure to agree to a hostage deal favorable to Israel.
