The Israel Defense Forces has notified residents of Kiryat Shmona and surrounding Upper Galilee communities that scheduled artillery fire will take place along the border sector through 7:00 PM this evening.
The military warned that loud explosions and intensive gunfire may be heard throughout the area as a result of the security operations. Israeli security officials and local emergency services emphasized that the activity is a planned, proactive operation by the IDF. Home Front Command, Israel's civilian defense authority, has issued no changes to existing public safety guidelines at this time. Authorities stated that should the situation change or special instructions become necessary, an updated notice will be issued to the public immediately.
