Fire spreads near Gush Etzion Junction

Firefighting teams and two aircraft battle brush fire in Judea as high winds push the blaze across open terrain. No threat to roads or communities at this stage, but police on standby for possible evacuations.

Aircraft assist in firefighting efforts

A large brush fire is burning in Gush Etzion. Firefighters and volunteers from the Judea regional station are working at this hour on a fire that broke out in open ground near Gush Etzion Junction. Teams responding to the scene are operating across multiple sectors as the fire spreads rapidly, driven by strong winds.

At this stage, the fire is not approaching the road or any communities, but officers from the Etzion station in the Judea district are prepared to assist and remain on standby in case further action is required, including road closures or community evacuations.

Due to challenging terrain, two firefighting aircraft from the Elad Squadron have been scrambled to assist in efforts to contain the blaze.

Chief Fire Officer Michael Randy, incident commander: "This is a fire moving with the winds across open ground, in proximity to the main traffic routes of Gush Etzion. We are operating on site with several teams. After conducting a situation assessment, and due to the fire's proximity to structures, I ordered the dispatch of two firefighting aircraft to assist in operations to halt the spread of the fire."
