MK Tally Gotliv said Thursday on Channel 14 that she believes there was "deliberate betrayal in the Shin Bet leadership" on the night before the October 7 massacre, in addition to what she called "a rebellion against the prime minister."
"On the night of October 6, there were signs screaming to the heavens of war," she said, "but they didn't inform Netanyahu because maybe he would pull out contingency plans and save the South."
Her remarks come as former IDF chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot, now head of the Yesh party, has sharply attacked Prime Minister Netanyahu and his family over what Eisenkot calls their promotion of a "betrayal theory" around October 7 in the run-up to elections.
Eisenkot accused the Netanyahu family of spreading lies and fostering the claim that Israel's security establishment betrayed the country. "Netanyahu's success is Israel's disaster," Eisenkot said in an interview on Radio 103FM. "This is a man who lies at every step. He's succeeding, unfortunately, in entrenching the betrayal theory. It's clear there was deep negligence; there was no betrayal. He and his family are cultivating the betrayal theory. He's undermining the basic trust between the citizen and the institutions of the state."
