Journalist Eli Tzipori, who has covered the Netanyahu trial throughout, responded Sunday on Galei Israel radio to the testimony of former Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, sharply criticizing the conduct of the law enforcement system. "What's happening here is something quite stunning," Tzipori said. "I didn't expect it to be to this extent. I thought at certain points he would say 'they didn't update me,' but he's shifting the responsibility wholesale, really wholesale, both to the police and to the prosecution."
Tzipori continued: "In effect, he's incriminating the system he headed. He never imagined this would reach the courtroom, and so all this work of concealment and lies and falsehoods and all of it, it's all being exposed by someone who worked closely with him."
He concluded with a sharp accusation: "They tried to stage a governmental coup here by criminal means. That needs to be said."
