"I was shocked to read this"

Ex-spokesman shocked by Bar's lawsuit claim

Omer Dostri, former spokesman for PM Netanyahu, responds to ex-Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar's massive lawsuit against Netanyahu: I was shocked to read the claim that 'Netanyahu didn't give me his phone number'

Omer Dostri, who served as spokesman for Prime Minister Netanyahu, responded today (Thursday) to the massive lawsuit filed by former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar against Netanyahu, and in particular to Bar's statement that he did not have the prime minister's personal phone number.

"I was shocked to read the claim by former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar that 'Netanyahu didn't give me his phone number,'" Dostri wrote.

"From experience, as someone who was the PM's spokesman, I say unequivocally that a senior official in a relevant position can certainly find the way, and there are several, to reach the PM if the matter is urgent and pressing. All the more so someone who holds a war warning."

Last night, Netanyahu issued his response to Bar and attacked him sharply. "Ronen Bar, who saw the warning signs on the night of October 7 and didn't call me, says today that he didn't have my phone number," the prime minister wrote in his response.

"Ronen, are you serious?" Netanyahu asked, continuing: "You had my red phone number, and you could have called me immediately just as all the heads of the security establishment do."

According to him, "the Shin Bet bodyguards, your subordinates, who are with me 24/7, could have reached me within minutes. How many lives could we have saved if only you had called in time?"
