"If I don't continue in the role"

Terrorists hoarding food to celebrate his exit

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir says intelligence from Lev and Ketziot prisons shows security prisoners saving rations to party on Tuesday night if he leaves office after the election

Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, chairman of Otzma Yehudit, revealed on Motzei Shabbos on Channel 14's "The Patriots" program that intelligence from Lev and Ketziot prisons shows security prisoners are hoarding food in preparation for a possible celebration if he does not continue in his role after the elections.

According to Ben-Gvir, the terrorists are already preparing for the possibility that he will leave the National Security Ministry. "They're stockpiling food, they don't have much, but they're hoarding food for Tuesday night," the minister said. The prisoners are saying, "We want to celebrate if Ben-Gvir leaves the prisons, if Ben-Gvir leaves this police portfolio."

He went on to claim that among Bedouins and Arabs in the Negev, there are also those working to ensure he does not continue in his position, as a result of his policy of demolishing illegal structures.

The remarks came in the context of the minister's policy of tightening conditions for security prisoners in Israeli jails.

Ben-Gvir also addressed his ongoing confrontation with Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, saying: "I'm the only minister that Gali Baharav-Miara wanted to remove, because according to her I don't count her and don't listen to her. It turns out I was right when I asked the prime minister to fire her, and today everyone tells me I was right!"

Ahead of the elections, he asked the public to participate in voting, and warned against voting for parties that will not pass the electoral threshold. "I'm turning to my activists and to all of Am Yisrael and calling on everyone to go out and vote. There are people who are confused and want to vote for parties that won't pass the threshold. That's a gift to Gali Baharav-Miara, and it endangers us," the minister said.
