Political analyst Anna Barsky of Maariv addressed Avigdor Liberman's statement today (Thursday) that he will not sit with Ahmad Tibi under any circumstances, and what that means for Gadi Eisenkot's path to forming a government.
"After Liberman's declaration that he will not be a partner in any move by Eisenkot and the 'change bloc', not for a minority government with the support of the Arab parties and not for a unity government with Likud, Eisenkot is left with only 41 mandates," Barsky said.
"That's not exactly a basis for forming a minority government, even before the question of how such a government is supposed to function. The only way out left for Eisenkot is the chareidim. If he offers them a generous enough draft law, it will be interesting to see if they agree to complete a quorum for him."
"And if so," she added, "the change bloc, that is, 'the bloc of those who serve', will need to be very creative to justify that publicly."
