Major traffic disruptions expected on Highway 1 and Ayalon Highway due to US Vice President's visit. Roads closed from 9:30 AM to 2 PM. Check alternate routes and plan ahead.

JD Vance and Donald Trump

Police officials have issued an urgent advisory regarding significant traffic disruptions this morning, as Highway 1 and the Ayalon Highway (Route 20) will be closed to traffic to accommodate the visit of the US Vice President JD Vance.

The closures are necessary for the motorcade's transit and are expected to affect commuters traveling between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for several hours.

Key Closure Details:

  • Start Time: 09:30 AM this morning.
  • Main Route Closure: The entirety of Highway 1 will be closed for westbound traffic (from Jerusalem toward Tel Aviv).
  • Tel Aviv Closure: Ayalon Highway (Route 20) North will be closed up to the Hashalom Interchange in Tel Aviv.
  • Anticipated Reopening: The roads are expected to remain blocked until the conclusion of the Vice President's visit, estimated to be around 2:00 PM.

Alternative Travel Information:

Authorities have provided an update for those traveling from Jerusalem to the central region:

  • Partial Reopening: Westbound traffic on Highway 1 will only be permitted up to the Lod Interchange starting from approximately 11:30 AM, after the Vice President arrives in Tel Aviv.
  • Alternate Routes: Travelers must use alternate routes from the Lod Interchange onward.

The police recommend that drivers check real-time traffic applications and updates frequently before setting out, as the times and routes are subject to immediate changes based on the Vice President's schedule. Commuters should prepare for substantial delays and consider using public transportation where possible.
