Yair Netanyahu Enters Politics with Coveted New Appointment
Yair Netanyahu, Benjamin and Sara's son, has been elected to Likud Central Committee, marking his entry into formal public activity.

Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been elected to serve as a member of the Likud Central Committee representing the party's Ma'ale Yosef branch, marking his formal entry into public political activity.
The Appointment
The election took place at the recent Likud conference, where elections were held for various Likud institutions and branches. Netanyahu the younger secured the position, which is considered a coveted role within the ruling party, as part of branch agreements.
The Likud Central Committee is the supreme institution leading the Likud party and decides on all matters concerning the party. The committee has approximately 4,000 members. The position is unpaid.
Political Implications
Yair Netanyahu, who is considered politically involved and frequently voices opinions on political issues, now holds an official position within the party structure.
According to N12, a Likud source indicated this represents another signal from Yair Netanyahu that he is interested in public life.
Previous Appointment Controversy
This appointment comes after an attempt to appoint Netanyahu's son to the executive board of the World Zionist Organization was halted at almost the last moment following public controversy.
The previous attempt failed after Yesh Atid withdrew from the agreements, which had included Netanyahu's appointment, at the last minute.
Minister Miki Zohar responded to that incident: "Hypocrisy, wickedness, and pure populism by the opposition. How are they not ashamed to appoint dozens of associates and family members to national institutions but try to thwart someone just because his family name is Netanyahu. This is what disgraceful persecution looks like against Yair Netanyahu, who simply wanted to do advocacy in the diaspora for the Jewish people. Shame on you."
Background
The appointment to the Likud Central Committee represents a more successful entry point for the younger Netanyahu into formal political structures, following the earlier setback with the World Zionist Organization position.
