For the first time since war began, Yemen fires missile toward Haifa

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Houthis launched a ballistic missile toward Israeli territory, prompting rocket sirens to wail across northern Israel, including in Haifa, the Krayot region, and as far north as Nahariya, the IDF said.

According to the military, the missile was “likely intercepted successfully” by Israeli air defenses. Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom (MDA), reported no direct injuries from the missile itself but said paramedics treated several people who were hurt while rushing to shelters.

The missile launch occurred at 3:58 a.m. local time, marking the first time since the start of the war that northern Israel - including the Haifa region - has been directly targeted by a Houthi attack.

This incident follows a similar launch last week, when a Houthi missile triggered air raid sirens in Tel Aviv, the greater Jerusalem area, and parts of the West Bank. The uptick in Houthi aggression comes amid ongoing U.S. airstrikes on the Iran-backed group.

On Sunday, Saudi outlet Al-Arabiya reported that the United States had targeted around 50 Houthi sites across the Yemeni cities of Sana'a, Hodeidah, and Amran in overnight raids.
