She has also claimed that Zionists control US immigration enforcement and that her opponent is controlled by “billionaire Zionists” and should be tried for treason.

Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue has stopped processing donations for Texas congressional candidate Maureen Galindo after she drew national criticism for saying she would turn an immigration detention facility into a prison for “American Zionists and former ICE officers.”

Galindo, a Democratic primary candidate in Texas’s 35th Congressional District, said ActBlue had shut down her donation page over what she called “lies and defamation.” As of Sunday, her ActBlue page was still not accepting donations and displayed a message saying the fundraiser was not currently active.

Galindo’s campaign has since moved fundraising to the Quick Contribute platform.

The controversy began after Galindo posted that she wanted the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center converted into a prison for “American Zionists and former ICE officers.” She later posted, “Close all internment camps” and “Arrest pedophile billionaire Zionists.”

Several senior Democrats condemned the remarks. Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Jared Moskowitz said that if Galindo were elected to Congress, they would seek to expel her every day.

“Maureen’s insane, antisemitic views, including putting Americans in concentration camps, have no place in our party or country,” they said.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Suzan DelBene also condemned Galindo, while accusing Republicans of elevating her candidacy for political purposes.

Galindo denied that her comments were antisemitic and accused the media of twisting her words. In a statement Friday, she said she had not used the term “internment camps,” but added that she did want the Karnes facility turned into a prison for “billionaire Zionists” whom she accused of profiting from “genocidal prison state materials and trafficking.”

She has also claimed that Zionists control US immigration enforcement and that her Democratic runoff opponent, Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnny Garcia, is controlled by “billionaire Zionists” and should be tried for treason.

Galindo has repeatedly argued that Zionist Jews are not real Jews, describing Zionists as European colonizers and claiming that Zionism itself is antisemitic.

She faces Garcia in a Democratic runoff on Tuesday.
