A British court recently released footage of a dramatic crash from nearly a year ago, in which a speeding driver caused the front of a building to collapse after losing control of his vehicle.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 20, 2025, around 6:00 AM in Burslem, a town in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Daniel Mohammed, 21, from Cobridge, was driving a black Ford Focus when he lost control and slammed into the front of a fast-food restaurant on Scotia Road.
According to court testimony, Mohammed was traveling at excessive speed while holding a mobile phone in his hand. He overtook a taxi on a dangerous curve near a pedestrian crossing. A 21-year-old female passenger in the car asked him to slow down, to which he responded, "No, it's fine." Moments later, the vehicle spun out of control, crashed into the shop, and caused the building's facade to partially collapse. Debris scattered across the street until the car came to rest at an intersection.
The passenger suffered a broken collarbone along with fractures to her forearm and wrist bones. Mohammed was also injured. Both were taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, no one inside the shop or in the apartment above was harmed. Local authorities deemed the structure unsafe and demolished part of it the same day. The business has remained closed since.
