FBI declares fertility clinic bombing that killed one a brutal terrorist attack

A deadly explosion outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, yesterday (Saturday) has been classified as a terrorist attack by the FBI. The blast killed one person and injured four others, shattering windows and doors across nearby buildings and ripping a hole through the clinic itself.

“This is an intentional act of terrorism,” declared Akil Davis, head of the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, during a press briefing near the scene. “This is probably one of the largest bombing investigations that we've had in Southern California.”

Authorities confirmed that the explosion originated from a bomb planted in or near a vehicle outside the American Reproductive Centers clinic. The city’s mayor, Ron deHarte, stated that the blast appeared to have come from a car parked near the building.

Davis noted that the FBI believes the clinic was deliberately targeted. Although the identity of the deceased has not yet been released, aerial footage showed human remains at the scene. Local news reports, citing unnamed sources, suggested the individual killed may have been a suspect in the bombing. The FBI declined to comment on that detail, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.

The explosion was powerful enough to scatter debris more than 180 meters from the epicenter, collapse the clinic’s roof, and damage nearby buildings. The charred remains of a vehicle were found in the parking lot, indicating the likely source of the blast.

In a statement released on social media, the clinic said no staff were harmed and confirmed that all reproductive materials, including embryos and eggs, were secure and undamaged.
