The driver responsible for the devastating high-speed crash that tragically ended the lives of a Brooklyn mother and her two young daughters in Flatbush has accepted a plea deal, which means she now faces a prison sentence of between three and nine years.

Miriam Yarimi, 32, entered the guilty plea on Monday, months after the catastrophic incident on March 29 that claimed the lives of Natasha Saada, 34, and her daughters, aged five and eight. The plea agreement comes just before Yarimi is scheduled for sentencing on Wednesday.

The Fatal Crash Details

According to investigators, the crash occurred when Yarimi, driving a 2023 Audi A3, was traveling at more than twice the posted speed limit. The vehicle then blew through a red light at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road.

Yarimi’s vehicle violently collided with an Uber-operated Toyota Camry, causing the Audi to flip. The flipped car then struck the Saada family, who were beginning to cross the street.

The immediate impact killed Natasha Saada and her daughters, Diana, 8, and Debra, 5. The Saada family was a beloved fixture in the local community, and the tragedy sent profound shockwaves across Brooklyn and surrounding areas.

Tragically, Natasha Saada’s four-year-old son was critically injured in the collision. However, according to reports, he has since recovered from his injuries.

Sentencing Controversy

Yarimi had initially pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges, but she reversed her stance with Monday's agreement. The plea deal, accepted by Judge Danny Chun, set the sentencing range at three to nine years.

This sentence is significantly less than what the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office was pushing for, as prosecutors had advocated for a harsher sentence ranging from five to 15 years in state prison for the fatal incident. The acceptance of the reduced range as part of the plea deal is expected to be a major point of contention within the community following the immense loss of life.

The outcome of the plea deal ensures Yarimi will face incarceration for the horrific crash, but the final sentence, set to be delivered this week, will be crucial in determining the length of time she serves for the three deaths she caused.
