A startling report from ABC News has revealed that United States federal authorities are on high alert following the interception of encrypted communications originating from Iran. According to a bulletin sent to law enforcement agencies across the country, these signals are believed to be "activation codes" intended for Iranian sleeper cells hidden within the West and other international regions. The messages appear to have been triggered by the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was liquidated in a joint US-Israeli operation on February 28th. Intelligence analysts are currently racing to decode the full extent of these orders, which could signal the beginning of a global wave of terrorism as the regime in Tehran struggles to maintain its grip on power.

Tracking the Signal

The federal alert notes that a preliminary analysis of the signals shows they were broadcast to numerous countries immediately following the decapitation strike on the Iranian leadership. These "sleeper cells" are often composed of deeply embedded operatives who live normal lives in foreign countries for years, waiting for a specific, pre-arranged signal to carry out attacks on local infrastructure, political leaders, or civilian centers. The timing of the broadcast suggests that the Iranian regime had a "dead man's switch" protocol in place, designed to unleash chaos in the event of the Supreme Leader’s death. Law enforcement agencies in major cities, including New York, London, and Paris, have been advised to increase surveillance on known Iranian assets and sensitive locations.

The Role of the Revolutionary Guard

Intelligence officials believe these cells are managed by the Quds Force, the external operations arm of the Revolutionary Guard. Even as the IAF hammers the headquarters of these groups in Iran and Lebanon, the decentralized nature of overseas sleeper cells makes them a uniquely difficult threat to manage. The intercepted communication is described as "highly sophisticated and deeply encrypted," indicating that it was prepared long in advance of the current war. While the US government has not specified the nature of the potential attacks, the warning to local police suggests a high level of concern regarding small scale, high impact terrorist incidents designed to distract the coalition from its primary mission in the Middle East.

A Regime in Despair

The activation of sleeper cells is seen by many analysts as a sign of absolute desperation from the remaining Iranian leadership. Having lost their Supreme Leader, their air defenses, and their primary military commanders, the regime is turning to irregular warfare and international terrorism to project a sense of strength. By threatening the security of the American and European homelands, Tehran hopes to force a ceasefire or a reduction in the intensity of the war. However, federal authorities have stated that the coalition remains undeterred, and the effort to identify and neutralize these hidden operatives is now a top priority for global intelligence agencies as they work to prevent the "shadow war" from claiming more innocent lives.
