U.S. Secret Service agents, in coordination with Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies, shot and killed an armed man in his 20s early Sunday morning after he attempted to breach the secure perimeter at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

The incident occurred overnight, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement who issued commands for the suspect to stop before opening fire when he refused.

According to reports, the suspect was carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can during the attempted unauthorized entry.

President Trump was not present at the property at the time, as he was spending the weekend in Washington, D.C.

Authorities have confirmed there were no injuries to any protectees, agents, or officers involved, and there is no ongoing threat to the area.

A joint press conference involving the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was held at 9:30 a.m. EST to provide further details on the overnight investigation.

This event comes amid heightened security concerns at Trump properties, following previous incidents such as a 2024 assassination attempt at a nearby West Palm Beach golf course and a 2020 vehicle breach at Mar-a-Lago where shots were fired but no injuries occurred.

Officials emphasize that this appears to be an isolated incident.
