Nancy Mace Introduces Bill to Expel Fellow Republican from Congress

Rep. Nancy Mace introduced a resolution to expel fellow Republican Rep. Cory Mills from Congress, citing a series of allegations including domestic violence, sexual misconduct, and ethics violations.
Mace said Mills had been “protected for far too long,” arguing that previous efforts to censure him and remove him from committee assignments were blocked by members of both parties. She claimed the evidence against him was “overwhelming,” accusing him of abusing women, engaging in cyberstalking, misrepresenting his military service, and profiting improperly from his position.
Mills has been under investigation by the House Ethics Committee since November, when earlier attempts to sanction him were referred to the panel. The committee has not yet released its findings.
In response, Mills said the expulsion effort was premature and called for due process, arguing that investigations alone should not be grounds for removal. He also pointed to an ongoing ethics probe involving Mace, suggesting her position could set a broader precedent.
Expelling a member of Congress requires a two-thirds majority in the House, a threshold that may be difficult to reach given the chamber’s narrow partisan divide.
The resolution comes amid heightened scrutiny of lawmakers following recent resignations tied to misconduct allegations.
