NY Mayoral Race Tightens
Poll Shows Zohran Mamdani’s Lead Shrinking in NYC Mayoral Race
New York City’s mayoral race tightens as a new poll shows Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani’s once-wide lead over Andrew Cuomo shrinking to just 10 points, signaling a potentially closer contest than expected

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic candidate for New York City mayor known for his anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian stances, continues to lead the race, but a new poll indicates his once-comfortable advantage is shrinking.
According to the latest Universita Spock survey, Mamdani leads former Governor Andrew Cuomo by just 10 points, receiving 44% support compared to Cuomo’s 34%. The results mark a significant tightening compared to previous polls, which showed Mamdani ahead by a much wider margin.
Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa trails far behind, and analysts note that only a withdrawal by Silva could create a realistic path to defeating Mamdani. Early voting has already begun, raising questions about whether the narrowing gap will translate into a competitive finish.
Political observers say that while the tightening is noteworthy, it may be too late to overturn Mamdani’s lead, as his support remains concentrated and other Democratic challengers, including current Mayor Eric Adams, have already exited the race.
The poll highlights shifting dynamics in one of America’s most high-profile mayoral contests, where international issues, including stances on Israel and Palestine, have increasingly influenced voter perceptions.
