Nancy Sliwa, wife of New York City Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa, is facing scrutiny after screenshots of her alleged social media posts from June 2024 resurfaced, appearing to criticize Israel's rescue of four hostages from Gaza amid reported Palestinian casualties.

The screenshots, shared by X user Ben Badejo show comments attributed to Nancy Sliwa reacting to the June 8, 2024, operation in which Israeli commandos freed Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv, all abducted from the Nova music festival during Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack. Three of the hostages were reportedly held in the home of a Gaza-based journalist.

Hamas claimed, without independent verification, that over 200 Palestinians were killed in the raid, a figure disputed by Israel, which estimated around 100 casualties, many of them terrorists.

In one alleged post, Nancy Sliwa wrote: "So another 200+ casualties & yet being applauded for success? We are living in some strange & disgusting times folks."

Another screenshot shows her expressing regret that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had not been indicted earlier by the International Criminal Court (ICC), referring to the court's politically charged pursuit of arrest warrants against Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes in Gaza, a process criticized by Israel and the U.S. as biased and unfounded.

When confronted on X about the posts, which are no longer visible on her account, Nancy Sliwa reportedly did not deny their authenticity.

Badejo urged the Sliwa campaign to address the matter, stating, "Curtis Sliwa and Team Sliwa need to explain this immediately."

Neither Nancy nor Curtis Sliwa has publicly responded to the resurfaced posts.

Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, has positioned himself as a pro-Israel candidate, pledging to boost Holocaust education in NYC schools and citing his group's role in protecting Jewish communities during events like the 1991 Crown Heights riots.

The controversy emerges amid a heated three-way mayoral race set for November, pitting Sliwa against independent Andrew Cuomo and Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani. Sliwa has been labeled a potential spoiler, with critics like billionaire Bill Ackman arguing his candidacy boosts Mamdani's chances, Mamdani, who has faced accusations of antisemitism, recently stated NYC should honor ICC warrants against Netanyahu.

During a recent debate, the candidates clashed over Israel-Gaza issues, with Sliwa and Cuomo attacking Mamdani's positions while Mamdani defended his calls for a ceasefire and criticized U.S. support for Israel.

Sliwa's campaign has also grappled with his own past controversies, including admissions in the 1990s that the Guardian Angels staged fake rescues for publicity.

It's not like Curtis Sliwa has any real chance of winning the upcoming elections though, despite what his wife said about Israel.
