The United Kingdom is in deep shock following the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, on suspicion of misconduct in public office linked to his ties with Jeffrey Epstein.

The arrest occurred on his 66th birthday at his home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, with police conducting searches at properties in Norfolk and Berkshire, including his former Windsor residence.

Thames Valley Police confirmed the detention of a man in his 60s, without naming him, as part of an investigation into allegations he shared confidential information with Epstein during his role as a UK trade envoy.

In a rare personal statement, King Charles III expressed "deep concern" over the news, emphasizing that the legal process must proceed fully and fairly with the royal family's full cooperation.

He clarified unequivocally: "The law must be upheld," adding that no further comments would be appropriate during the investigation.

The King noted that his family would continue to serve the public amid the developments.

The suspicions center on documents allegedly sent to Epstein containing economic secrets of the kingdom, though it is unclear if Andrew will face questioning on additional serious allegations tied to his association with the convicted sex offender.

This follows weeks of scrutiny from unsealed Epstein files, which have reignited claims of misconduct.

Social media is abuzz with reactions, drawing parallels to global accountability issues and questioning protections for high-profile figures.

Andrew remains in custody as the investigation continues.
