Iran Threatens European Bases Over Potential US Strikes

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei has issued a stark warning that Tehran will strike American military bases located in European countries if those nations "participate in aggression against Iran."

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Baghaei claimed that "we have managed to thwart all the enemy's plans." He added that "there is no justification for any country to fear Iran, unless these countries pave the way for the United States to attack Iran."

The spokesman emphasized Iran's position that it has not initiated hostilities but has exercised what he called its "legitimate right to defend itself." He stated firmly: "We will not allow the war to end on the aggressor's terms."

The threat follows a report last week in the British newspaper Financial Times indicating that Iran is considering attacks on American military targets in Europe should US President Donald Trump escalate the conflict and order renewed strikes against Iranian territory. According to that report, Iranian forces have examined the possibility of targeting American assets and installations in southeastern Europe.

Bulgaria emerged as a primary potential target after approving the use of an air force base on its territory for American refueling aircraft last month. Cyprus was also included on the list of possible Iranian response targets in the event of renewed warfare. Last March, the British Royal Air Force base in Akrotiri, Cyprus, was hit by a drone attack that Western intelligence sources assessed was Iranian in origin, though it was launched by one of Iran's regional proxy organizations rather than directly from Tehran.
