Antisemitism loses at ballot

Rep. Randy Fine secured the Republican nomination for Florida's 6th Congressional District on Tuesday, defeating social media influencer Dan Bilzerian and a crowded field in a race dominated by antisemitic attacks on the Jewish incumbent.

The Associated Press called the race at 7:53 p.m., when Fine secured 56.7% of the votes. Bilzerian, who mounted a heavily self-funded challenge, received approximately 18% of the vote, with other challengers including conservative activist Aaron Baker and business executive Manuel Asensio trailing significantly. Fine carried the district's key counties, Volusia, Flagler, Lake, Marion, St. Johns, and Putnam, by double-digit margins.

Fine, who first won the seat in an April 2025 special election, benefited from a substantial fundraising advantage and backing from President Donald Trump. Trump endorsed Fine in October 2025, calling him a "MAGA Warrior." Fine won the primary despite being outspent by opponents, a feat he emphasized in his victory remarks.

The race was defined by Bilzerian's campaign strategy, which centered on attacking Fine's heritage and Jewish identity. Bilzerian, described as a "dual U.S.-Armenian citizen," labeled Fine a "fat Jew" and leveled broader antisemitic rhetoric throughout the campaign. Republican and Democratic leaders condemned the attacks, with antisemitic messaging from Bilzerian drawing swift rebuke from congressional colleagues.

Fine has established himself as one of the House Republican caucus's most vocal pro-Israel advocates. He is backed by the Republican Jewish Coalition and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

In the Democratic primary held simultaneously, Eric Yonce won his party's nomination with 32.4% of the vote, positioning himself as Fine's general election opponent on November 3. The Cook Political Report rates the district as solidly Republican, making Fine's general election victory highly likely.
