Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced today (Thursday) that his government would be allocating a total of £72 million to Jewish communities to beef up their security around community buildings and centers, in the wake of the post-October 7 wave of antisemitism, according to Sky News.

The money will be used by the Community Security Trust, a charity which handles security for the Jewish community and which has sounded the alarm on the rise in antisemitism in the UK, and will be used to provide security guards, CCTV cameras, and alarm systems to protect against possible threats.

The CST previously published a report in mid-February stating that the number of antisemitic incidents in Britain in 2023, 4,103, was the highest they'd ever recorded, and significantly higher than previous years. Furthermore, some 2/3s of these incidents occurred after October 7.
