Dramatic footage circulating online reveals a failed Hamas attack in Khan Younis, aimed at kidnapping Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops. The video shows a squad of at least 12 armed Hamas operatives hiding under blankets along a logistics road, planning an ambush. IDF Golani Brigade troops detected the group using a drone and called in a Hermes 450 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for a strike. The terrorists fled into a tunnel before the attack, escaping immediate harm.
As they retreated, the IDF also detected a Hamas drone flying over the area, apparently assisting the operatives by providing intelligence, according to a military investigation.
The IDF is now investigating both the incident and the source of the leaked videos, which have spread rapidly online, raising concerns about operational security.
