A surprise is emerging in the early exit-poll data collected outside sample polling stations across Israel, journalist Ran Boker reported this afternoon, with one party showing numbers sharply different from what recent surveys had predicted.
In an initial report, Boker wrote: "Two and a half hours before the exit polls are published: a major headache for the pollsters regarding at least one party that is showing different numbers compared to recent surveys. By the way, it does not cause a dramatic change in the blocs, as of the writing of this message."
Boker later explained why the discrepancy is creating a professional challenge for the polling teams. "If the pollsters receive results that are significantly different from what was in recent surveys, they can apply a 'factor' according to their understanding of the field and the statistics," he wrote in response to followers' questions.
