Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro and the right-wing candidate in Brazil's recent presidential election, has fled the country after the judiciary moved to arrest him, according to local reports.
The escape follows a contested election that included an unusual last-minute Supreme Court order extending polling-station hours by two hours, a decision that appears to have delivered victory to his opponent. Brazilian media now report that the younger Bolsonaro has left the country.
According to local sources, Flávio Bolsonaro fled Brazil to Paraguay and is expected to fly from there to the United States, where he is likely to receive asylum. The Trump administration has expressed disbelief in the Brazilian election results, citing significant coordination between the left and the Supreme Court.
