U.S. President sharply blames Hamas for suffering in Gaza, says food aid blocked by terror group’s actions
U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the growing international criticism of Israel over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, making it clear on Thursday that he places full responsibility on Hamas.
In a brief but emphatic post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “The fastest way to end the humanitarian crisis is (IN ALL CAPS) for Hamas to surrender and release the hostages!!!” The punctuation was original to his post.
Reports from the U.S. indicate that Trump was visibly moved by images of malnourished children in Gaza, prompting him to instruct his team to explore potential solutions. Speaking earlier this week at a press conference in Scotland, Trump remarked, “You can’t fake those images of starving children. I want people to get food now. That’s the most urgent thing—people are hungry. Other nations must step up too - we provided $60 million and nobody even said thank you.”
When asked whether he agrees with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent claim that there is no famine in Gaza, Trump replied, “Not particularly. The images on TV show very hungry children. We're going to set up centers and fund them. People will be able to go in - no fences. Right now they can see the food, but they can’t reach it. It’s insane. Some of these kids are really starving, I can see it. You can’t fake that.”
Despite his humanitarian tone, Trump reiterated that the root of the crisis lies with Hamas, emphasizing again that only the group’s surrender and the release of hostages can bring true relief to Gaza.
