Outrage Erupts After Governor Tim Walz Compares ICE Agents to Nazis and Evokes Anne Frank | WATCH
Governor Tim Walz is facing a massive backlash after using the memory of the Holocaust to attack federal immigration enforcement. By claiming Minnesota children are living through a modern-day "Anne Frank story," Walz has been accused of trivializing genocide to score cheap political points against the Trump administration.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz drew sharp criticism after comparing the experiences of undocumented immigrants during federal immigration enforcement actions to the plight of Anne Frank during the Holocaust.
The remarks came during a press conference addressing a surge in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the Twin Cities, following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37 year-old ICU nurse, by federal agents during an attempted arrest.
"We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank," Walz stated, adding, "Somebody is gonna write one regarding Minnesota."
He accused the Trump administration of deploying "Nazi forces" to hunt innocents, framing the operations as an overreach that terrorizes communities.
Walz further told President Trump, "You clearly underestimated the people of this state and nation," emphasizing Minnesota's resistance to what he described as aggressive federal tactics.
Critics, including conservative commentators and Jewish organizations, accused Walz of "Holocaust inversion" and trivializing the Nazi genocide, where Anne Frank, a Jewish teenager, hid from persecution before her capture and death in a concentration camp. One Instagram reel labeled the governor "deranged" for equating ICE raids with Nazi actions.
The backdrop involves escalated immigration enforcement under the second Trump administration, with ICE and Border Patrol conducting operations in Minnesota targeting individuals with criminal records or deportation orders.
Pretti's death marked the second fatal incident in the state within days, intensifying local tensions and protests.
Walz, a Democrat and former vice presidential candidate in 2024, has positioned himself as a defender of immigrant communities, vowing state resistance to federal overreach.
