Man Falls to his Death from Six Flags Roller Coaster in Georgia

A man was killed after falling from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, near Atlanta, on Monday afternoon.

Four other people were injured in the incident, which led to the ride being shut down and passengers evacuated. The circumstances of the fall are under investigation.

The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. local time on the Goliath roller coaster, according to American media reports. Police confirmed one fatality and several injuries but have not yet released the victim's identity or full details of how the fall occurred.

Eyewitnesses told local media they saw a person fall from one of the coaster cars and strike parts of the ride structure during the descent. According to one account, the man hit the cars multiple times before reaching the ground.

Following the incident, the ride was stopped and passengers still on board were evacuated using emergency stairs. Footage broadcast on American news outlets showed riders descending from the elevated track after the coaster came to a halt on the rails.

The Goliath roller coaster opened in 2006 and reaches a height of approximately 61 meters and speeds of around 113 kilometers per hour. The ride lasts about three and a half minutes and features steep drops and sharp turns.

In response to the accident, Six Flags management announced the temporary and precautionary closure of nine roller coasters across six of its amusement parks pending inspection of similar rides. The company said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution and emphasized that the safety of visitors and employees is its top priority.
