Another incident in the widening tensions between the United States and Iran: the UK Maritime Trade Operations center reported Monday that an oil tanker was attacked and disabled while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. The center said all crew members are safe and accounted for.

According to the center's statement, the incident took place last Thursday but was only confirmed now. The tanker was struck by gunfire while transiting the strait and was left disabled, though no damage to the vessel itself was reported and no oil spill has been detected in the area.

The center added that "vessels are advised to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activity." Local authorities have opened an investigation into the incident.
