'SEND YOUR TOY CARRIERS HOME' — Trump Blasts UK for 'Showing Up Late' to Iran Campaign

President Trump sparks a diplomatic row, labeling British aircraft carriers "toys" and mocking the UK for "showing up late" to the campaign against Iran. As the U.S.-led Operation Epic Fury shifts to securing the Strait of Hormuz, Trump dismisses London's delayed military offer.

President Donald Trump sharply criticized the United Kingdom on Thursday for offering to deploy its aircraft carriers only after the heaviest phase of the U.S.-led campaign against Iran had already ended.

“Britain should have sent their toy aircraft carriers at the beginning of the war, not after we destroyed the enemy,” Trump said.

The comment quickly went viral there and has since been picked up by British outlets including The Sun and Daily Mail.

He also said, "My request to the U.K. for help was just a test ...The U.S. has always been there for the U.K., but now I don’t know anymore.”

Trump was responding to London’s recent decision to offer one of its Queen Elizabeth-class carriers, either HMS Queen Elizabeth or HMS Prince of Wales, to help secure the Strait of Hormuz and support Operation Epic Fury. The joint U.S.-Israeli operation against Iran began on February 28; by mid-March, American and Israeli forces had already neutralized much of Iran’s naval and coastal missile capabilities.

The president has repeatedly used the phrase “toy aircraft carriers” in recent days to describe Britain’s two carriers, arguing that allies who “show up late” after the fighting is largely over are no longer needed.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government has not publicly responded to Trump’s latest jab. A Downing Street spokesperson earlier this week described the carrier deployment offer as a demonstration of “continued commitment to regional stability.”

The remark fits Trump’s long-standing “America First” stance toward NATO and European allies, whom he has frequently accused of free-riding on U.S. military efforts.
