Trump: Israel Should Hold Fire in Gaza

In a Fox News interview, the U.S. president addressed the possibility of renewed conflict with Iran, called on Tehran to surrender, and said Israel should cease attacks in Gaza now that Hamas has agreed to lay down arms

President Donald Trump has weighed in on Israel's upcoming elections, the prospect of escalating military action against Iran, and the ongoing situation in Gaza, suggesting Jerusalem exercise restraint in the coastal enclave.

Speaking with Fox News, Trump addressed a range of Middle East developments, including Israel's election campaign. When asked whether he would endorse a preferred candidate, the president said: "I think it's best that I don't get involved in that, but I might support someone."

Regarding potential regional military escalation, Trump indicated that if fighting resumes with Iran, "the U.S. will lead it and Israel will provide support." On Gaza, he offered pointed advice to Israeli leaders: "It would be better if the Israelis don't attack in Gaza — Hamas has agreed to lay down its weapons."

Trump also addressed Iran directly, saying the time has come for Tehran to capitulate. "Iran needs to wave the white flag of surrender," he said. "They're good poker players, but they're dying."
