Bromance is back
Elon Musk Shares Photo of Trump Reunion
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk appear to be back on speaking terms, if not fully back in sync, after months of very public friction. The Tesla and SpaceX founder shared an image from a Saturday night dinner at Mar-a-Lago alongside Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk appear to be back on speaking terms, if not fully back in sync, after months of very public friction.
Musk signaled the thaw with a single photo and a single sentence. Posting on X, the Tesla and SpaceX founder shared an image from a Saturday night dinner at Mar-a-Lago alongside Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, writing: “Had a lovely dinner last night with @POTUS and @FLOTUS. 2026 is going to be amazing!” The message immediately set off speculation that the once-close alliance between the two powerful figures is being repaired.
The relationship had cooled sharply earlier in 2025. After becoming one of Trump’s largest political donors during the 2024 campaign and briefly advising the administration on government efficiency through the DOGE initiative, Musk stepped back amid criticism and growing disagreements over federal spending. The rupture went public when Musk savaged Trump-backed legislation as a bloated “abomination,” prompting Trump to respond that he was “very disappointed” and unsure whether the relationship would survive.
Musk escalated the feud at the time, claiming Trump would not have won reelection without his support and even floating the idea of launching a new political party. For a while, the split looked personal, ideological and permanent.
That certainty began to fade toward the end of 2025. The two were spotted shaking hands at a high-profile memorial service in Arizona, and Musk later appeared at a White House dinner during a visit by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. When asked directly in December whether Musk was “back in his circle,” Trump demurred but made a point of saying he still liked him.
The Mar-a-Lago dinner now suggests something more deliberate. While neither side has announced any formal role for Musk or policy alignment, the optics are unmistakable. A shared table, a smiling photo and a forward-looking message are a far cry from public insults traded just months earlier.
Whether this marks a full reunion or a pragmatic truce remains unclear. What is clear is that both men seem to see value in lowering the temperature. For Trump, Musk remains a donor, a megaphone and a symbol of technological ambition. For Musk, Trump is still the most powerful political figure in the country, shaping regulation, defense and space policy.
For now, the message is simple and carefully staged: the feud is no longer the story, and 2026, at least in the caption, is back to being “amazing.”
