Trump’s Ultimatum to Hamas
“Eternal Peace”: Trump and Netanyahu Agree on Final Gaza War Plan in White House Drama
President Trump announced that Prime Minister Netanyahu has agreed to the "Eternal Peace" plan, offering Hamas 72 hours to accept a full hostage-for-prisoners swap, or face a regional coalition with "full backing" from the US to complete the destruction of the group.

In a dramatic joint press conference at the White House, President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu heralded a new peace framework, with Trump declaring the day "a historic day for peace" and potentially "one of the greatest days ever in civilization." The leaders announced that Prime Minister Netanyahu had agreed to the administration’s 20-point proposal to immediately end the war in Gaza, which the President has dubbed “Eternal Peace” in the Middle East.
President Trump confirmed that the White House is "formally releasing principles for peace, people have really liked," following an "important meeting on many vital issues," including Iran, the expansion of the Abraham Accords, and the Gaza war, which he noted is "just a part of the bigger picture, which is peace in the Middle East."
The proposal’s immediate effects are tied to Hamas's acceptance. Trump stated: "If accepted by Hamas, this proposal calls for the release of ALL remaining hostages immediately, but in no case more than 72 hours... the hostages are coming back." He added that if Hamas agrees, "the war will terminate immediately."
Trump placed the responsibility for the plan's success squarely on an international coalition. He thanked Netanyahu "for agreeing to the plan and for being willing to start a new chapter in the Middle East," and extended gratitude to leaders across the Arab world and Europe, including the heads of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Egypt. Trump stated, “I really want to thank Bibi, we really work well together” and asserted, “Medinat 'Arav hithayvu l'farek et Hamas mi-yekholotav miyyadit" (translated as "Arab countries have committed to immediately dismantle Hamas of its capabilities"), adding, "I hear that Hamas wants to finish with it too.”
Crucially, the President directly addressed the fate of Hamas if they reject the proposal, making a powerful security commitment to Israel. Trump asserted that if the International Stabilization Force fails to deal with the Hamas infrastructure, Israel will have "the full backing from us" to act on its own to complete the work of destroying the threat posed by Hamas. He added, “If Hamas will refuse the deal, you know Bibi, you have my full support to do what you have to do.”
Trump also announced his personal involvement in the post-war administration of Gaza. To ensure the success of the effort, his plan calls for a new international oversight body, the Board of Peace, which, he stated, "will be headed, not at my request... by a gentleman known as President Donald J. Trump of the United States," and will include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The President reflected on Israel's past, noting their withdrawal from Gaza years ago: “Israel withdrew from Gaza, thinking they would live in peace. Remember that? I never forgot that, because I said it doesn't sound like a good deal to me.” He concluded his remarks by emphasizing the diplomatic shift: "Only Hamas remains, everyone else has already approved the proposal."
