A Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in Yalova province in northwestern Turkey on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, according to the Turkish Ministry of National Defence.
The pilot ejected safely and survived the crash, the ministry stated. Yalova Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta confirmed the pilot's survival and said he was heading to the crash site.
Local media videos captured a plume of black smoke rising from a field at the crash site. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and has not yet been determined.
