BREAKING: US Forces Storm Oil Tanker BELLA1
Although Russia deployed a submarine and naval vessels to escort the Bella1, US officials nevertheless successfully boarded it recently.

The high-seas drama surrounding the sanctioned oil tanker formerly known as Bella, now renamed Marinera, reached a boiling point today as U.S. forces reportedly stormed the vessel, defying a Russian naval escort that includes a submarine and other warships.
The Bella 1, accused by the U.S. of illegally transporting Iranian crude oil for designated terrorist groups and violating sanctions, has been evading seizure since December 21, 2025.
Initially spotted near Venezuela, the tanker abruptly changed course after a failed U.S. Coast Guard boarding attempt, fleeing into the Atlantic while its crew painted a Russian flag on the hull and reflagged the ship from Guyana to Russia in an apparent bid for protection under international law.
Russia formally requested the U.S. halt the pursuit, deploying naval assets to escort the tanker as it headed eastward through the Greenland-Iceland-UK (GIUK) gap.
U.S. surveillance planes from RAF bases in the UK have been tracking the ship, amid rumors of 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) deployments.
The vessel, reportedly empty but with a history of Venezuelan crude transport, adopted Russian colors mid-voyage, a move U.S. officials may view as invalid under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, potentially allowing them to disregard it.
Today's storming operation occurred as the tanker approached favorable weather for boarding.
The Bella 1/Marinera's fate could set precedents for future pursuits of "black fleet" vessels evading international restrictions.
