U.S. is Negotiating with Iran Using Bombs

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has provided a blunt assessment of the ongoing diplomatic efforts with the Iranian regime, characterizing the process as a "negotiation under fire." Speaking at an event hosted by President Donald Trump, Hegseth emphasized that the United States has not ceased its military pressure despite the opening of communication channels. According to the Defense Secretary, the presence of American airpower directly above Tehran serves as a constant reminder to the Iranian leadership that their options have narrowed to a single path: the total abandonment of their nuclear ambitions.

The Aerial Ultimatum

Hegseth’s comments reveal a strategy of aggressive leverage, where diplomatic progress is tied directly to the threat of immediate kinetic action. "We are part of the negotiations even with the bombings," Hegseth stated, adding that as U.S. forces "hover over Tehran," the choice for the regime becomes undeniably clear. He reiterated that the primary mission of the current administration is to ensure that Iran never possesses the capability to produce a nuclear weapon, and the military is the primary tool being used to enforce that reality. This "hovering" presence is intended to strip away any remaining sense of security the regime might have, forcing them to negotiate from a position of total vulnerability.

President Donald Trump echoed these sentiments, confirming that the Iranian side has already moved toward accepting the most critical American demand. "They agreed, they will never hold a nuclear weapon, they agreed to that," Trump stated. The President explained that while he had previously opposed talks, the current desperation of the Iranian leadership has made them "talk sense." For the Trump administration, the prevention of a nuclear Iran is the "top condition" that precedes all other topics of discussion. By maintaining active air operations while the diplomatic team, including Vice President J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio, engages with Iranian representatives, the U.S. is signaling that any hesitation from Tehran will result in the immediate resumption of full scale strikes.
