Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax Dies in Apparent Murder-Suicide
This is a developing story.

Former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax (D) shot and killed his wife, Cerina Fairfax, before taking his own life early Thursday morning in an apparent murder-suicide at their home in Annandale, Fairfax County police confirmed.
According to authorities, officers responded to the residence after a 911 call from one of the couple’s teenage sons. Both children were inside the home at the time but were unharmed. Police described the incident as stemming from a domestic dispute related to the couple’s ongoing divorce proceedings.
Fairfax, who served as the state’s second-in-command from 2018 to 2022, had faced significant public scrutiny during his tenure due to sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him, which he consistently denied.
No further details on motive have been released. The investigation remains active.
