Bessent: No Iranian Oil Tankers at Sea

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iran has no oil shipments at sea this week, leaving it without oil export revenue and with negative cash flow.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iran currently has no oil in tankers at sea. According to Bessent, this week will be the first time in history, since Iran began extracting oil, that the country has not a single oil shipment on the water.

Bessent stated that this leaves Tehran with no revenue from oil exports. He added that Iran's cash flow is negative.

Bessent has previously announced US measures against Iran's economy. Sanctions on Iran's aviation sector took effect on September 23, threatening any foreign company that supplies Iranian aircraft with fuel, ground services or ticket sales with losing access to the US dollar system.

"All the Iranian airlines will be shut down around the world," Bessent told CNBC at the time.
