Israeli FM to France and Canada: Build a Palestinian State on Your Land

During briefing to senior U.S. media delegation, Saar warns that a Palestinian state in Israel’s heartland would be a “solution” only for those seeking to destroy the country.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar delivered a blunt message on Wednesday during a briefing to a delegation of senior journalists from Newsmax and other major American media outlets visiting Israel as part of the Foreign Ministry’s public diplomacy efforts.

Addressing the idea of a Palestinian state within the 1967 lines, with its capital in East Jerusalem, Saar warned: “Placing a Palestinian state in the heart of the Land of Israel — just a short distance from our population centers — would put Israel’s heartland in grave danger and push us back to indefensible borders.”

He continued: “When they say to us, ‘Build a Palestinian state here, on these hills, close to us, a short distance from Jerusalem and the coastal plain,’ it’s clear such a move would be suicidal.”

Regarding the two-state solution, Saar said: “A Palestinian state in the heart of the Land of Israel would indeed be a solution — a solution for those seeking to destroy us. We will not allow this to happen.”

He concluded with a sharp rebuke to international advocates: “If large countries like France and Canada want to establish a Palestinian state on their territory, they can — they have enough land. But here, in the Land of Israel, it will not happen.”
