The security sweep also led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Jerusalem resident on March 26, 2026. His story highlights the modern face of espionage in which initial contact is made via social media by Iranian intelligence. After which he is tasked with gathering visual intelligence and photographing sensitive strategic locations across Israel. Layer he accepts payments in cryptocurrency to hide the money trail, fully aware that he was working for a hostile foreign entity.

"This is a wake-up call regarding the methods used by the Iranian enemy," a joint statement from the Shin Bet and Israel Police read. "They are utilizing digital platforms and crypto-payments to exploit Israeli citizens for terror activities."

With the war continuing, Israeli intelligence officials warn that the digital battlefield is becoming just as dangerous as the front lines. The prosecution is expected to file severe indictments against the suspects today.
