Lapid says No Risk to Election Results after Shin Bet Meeting

Yair Lapid declared that there is no risk to Israel's election results, Amit Segal reported. Lapid made the statement after meeting Shin Bet Director David Zini at the headquarters of the Shin Bet, Israel's domestic intelligence agency.

Lapid said his conclusion rests on his familiarity with the relevant information. He added that the authorities handling the matter agree there is no reason to question the outcome.

Lapid also spoke with representatives of Justice Noam Sohlberg, who chairs the Central Elections Committee. He confirmed that there is no obstacle to swearing in the Knesset.

Lapid's statement followed Tuesday's vote for the 26th Knesset. On Wednesday evening, Zini arrived at the Knesset unannounced and briefed Sohlberg on the agency's work following concerns about foreign influence on the vote. According to that report, the materials presented raised troubling concerns but did not include conclusive evidence. Sohlberg instructed the agency to keep examining the findings and later sent formal written instructions.
